Dal 10 al 13 aprile Verona torna a essere la patria del vino
Vinitaly, il Salone Internazionale dei vini e dei distillati che quest’anno spegne cinquanta candeline, sarà inaugurato il 10 aprile a Verona alla presenza del presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella. È la prima volta che un capo dello Stato interviene alla cerimonia di apertura del Salone: «Un gesto di grande attenzione -ha affermato il presidente di Veronafiere Maurizio Danese- verso quegli imprenditori che hanno avuto la capacità di costruire un settore che è diventato in dieci lustri il vanto dell’Italia nel mondo».
In questi cinquant’anni di storia del vino italiano, infatti, la manifestazione è riuscita a dare vita a una rete di relazioni e attività che hanno portato il Governo italiano a riconoscere in Vinitaly il player per organizzare a Expo 2015 “VINO - A Taste of ITALY”, il primo padiglione dedicato al vino nella storia di un’Esposizione Universale, ma soprattutto la piattaforma b2b per il settore.
Un’attività che ha previsto investimenti diretti e indiretti per 8 milioni di euro solo per l’edizione 2016, tra incoming e miglioramento di strutture e servizi alle aziende e agli operatori professionali attesi da oltre 140 Paesi. Veronafiere, proprietario del marchio e organizzatore della rassegna, ha programmato un palinsesto di iniziative ed eventi che hanno come finalità quella di favorire in ogni modo il business delle aziende, all’insegna della mission “il wine business in fiera, il wine festival in città”.
Più espositori esteri e incontri b2b per favorire gli affari quindi, ma anche tasting esclusivi e alta ristorazione per divulgare la cultura del vino. Novità importante della 50a edizione il nuovo “Premio enologico internazionale 5 Star Wines”, leva di marketing per le aziende che vi prendono parte. Per i wine lover, invece, dall’8 all’11 aprile è previsto nel centro storico di Verona un ricco programma di degustazioni ed eventi nel fuori-salone “Vinitaly and the City” (vinitalyandthecity.com) con degustazioni, appuntamenti culturali e musica dal vivo.
In Piazza dei Signori sommelier professionisti proporranno un’ampia selezione di vini da tutta Italia da degustare in abbinamento a specialità gastronomiche. Nella “Vinitaly and the City Lounge”, allestita nella vicina Loggia di Fra’ Giocondo, si terrà un ricco programma di attività sul tema “vino e cultura”, mentre nel Cortile del Mercato Vecchio la “Vinitaly and the City Music Lounge” offrirà esibizioni e dj set di artisti di fama nazionale.
Per gli amanti dei vini biologici e biodinamici, il fuori salone propone “BIOlogic”, nei padiglioni dell’Arsenale Austriaco, caratterizzato da un fitto programma di musica e incontri. All’interno del progetto di “Vinitaly And The City”, con la formula “taste and visit”, è possibile partecipare alle numerose visite guidate enogastronomiche che, tra racconti e assaggi di vini italiani, faranno tappa nei luoghi storici più conosciuti della città e in famosi ristoranti partner dell’iniziativa. Il 2015 è stato un anno da record per l’export del vino italiano che vale 5,39 miliardi di euro (+5,4% sul 2014).
I vini spumanti sono i veri protagonisti di questo successo, con un valore di 985 milioni di euro (+17%) e un volume scambiato pari a circa 2,8 milioni di ettolitri (+15%).

Vinitaly celebrates its 50th birthday
From 10th to 13th April Verona will be Italy’s wine capital once again
Vinitaly, the international wine and spirits fair which is celebrating is 50th birthday this year, is opening on 10th April in Verona with the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella present. It is the first time that a head of state has attended the fair’s opening ceremony.
“It is a gesture of great respect”, commented Maurizio Danese, Veronfiere president, “to all those business people who have expertly built up a sector which has become Italy’s pride and joy the world over in the last fifty years”. In these fifty years of Italian wine history, in fact, the event has succeeded in breathing life into a network of relationships and activities which have culminated now in Italian government recognition of Vinitaly’s central role in organising VINO - A Taste of ITALY at Expo 2015, the first pavillion devoted entirely to wine in the history of the Universal Exhibition and first and foremost a b2b platform for the sector. It is work which has seen direct and indirect investments to the tune of 8 million euros for the 2016 edition alone in incoming tourism and improvements to the structures and services offered to the companies and professionals expected to attend from 140 countries.
Veronafiere, the brand’s owner and the event’s organiser, has planned a calendar of initiatives and events whose purpose is to promote companies’ business to the rallying cry of “the wine business at the trade fair, the wine business in town”. More foreign exhibitors and b2b meetings to facilitate business, then, but also exclusive tastings and haute cuisine to promote wine culture. A new feature of this 50th edition is the new 5 Star Wines International Enology Award, a marketing lever for the companies who are taking part in it.
For wine lovers, on the other hand, from 8th to 11th April, a packed programme of tastings and events will be taking place in the Vinitaly and the City fringe events (vinitalyandthe city.com) involving tastings, cultural events and live music. In Piazza dei Signori professional sommeliers will be serving up a wide range of wines from all over Italy to be tasted together with culinary specialities. In the Vinitaly and the City Lounge, set up in nearby Loggia di Fra’ Giocondo, a packed programme of events will be held on the wine and culture theme while at Cortile del Mercato Vecchio the Vinitaly and the City Lounge will host exhibitions and DJ sets by internationally famous artists.
For lovers of organic and biodynamic wines the fringe events programme is offering BIOlogic in the pavilions of the Arsenale Austriaco with a packed programme of music and events.
Inside Vinitaly and the City, with the ‘taste and visit’ formula, visitors will be able to take part in a great many wine and food visits which will be punctuated by history tales and tastings of Italian wines and will stop off at the city’s best known historical locations and famous restaurants signing up to the initiative.
